From time to time, curious and intriguing recordings of unusual flying objects emerge. For those who closely follow the phenomenon, this has become quite common. However, the overwhelming majority of these sightings tend to have simpler explanations than expected: misunderstood natural phenomena, out-of-focus man-made objects, or simple misinterpretations.
The number of photos and videos that initially appear to show UFOs but are later identified as drones, balloons, lanterns, or reflections is quite significant.
The footage presented in this article may very well fall into one of those categories — at least in the opinion of this author.
The video in question was found by me and posted today by a Japanese account on the social network X (formerly Twitter). The user responsible for the post goes by the handle @_oheru. In his bio, he describes himself as a UFO enthusiast with a focus on OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) — a practice that involves collecting, comparing, and analyzing publicly available data to draw more accurate conclusions.
In the description of his account, @_oheru states:
“I’m an enthusiast of OSINT work on unidentified flying objects. The place I’d like to visit is the site of the landing incident in Socorro.”
Before moving forward, it’s worth mentioning a case that occurred in Japan in 2015, cited by the author of the post as a possible parallel. Intrigued by the recent footage (it is still unclear whether or not he was the one who recorded the video), he searched for similar past cases and ended up referencing a notable incident that took place around ten years ago at an elementary school in Miyazaki Prefecture.
This encounter with an unidentified flying object happened in the skies above Kobayashi Junior High School, located in the city of Kobayashi, Miyazaki Prefecture. At the time, a mysterious object was witnessed by more than 50 people — including students, teachers, and local residents.
The reports are striking for their consistency: the object was observed from different areas of the school, including classrooms and the courtyard, and the witness descriptions shared similar details. This level of coherence made the case one of the most talked-about sightings ever recorded in a school environment in Japan.
In the video post, @_oheru comments:
“The light, which resembled that of a ‘dekotora’ (a Japanese truck heavily decorated with lights), mentioned in the UFO sighting at a junior high school in Miyazaki Prefecture — which was featured on last week’s episode of Nanda Kore!? Mystery — reminded me of a lighted, blimp-shaped advertising balloon that had previously been posted as a supposed UFO, also in Miyazaki. The balloon shown in the video was launched by a pachinko parlor called CORE21 Minami-Miyazaki. The reported movement speed of the object is something that stands out, but I wonder if the light seen was similar to this one?”
In the post, @_oheru notes that last week — more precisely on the 9th — the TV show Nanda Kore!? Mystery covered the case of the sighting that occurred at a school in Miyazaki Prefecture. The descriptions provided by the witnesses reminded him of an old illuminated advertising balloon, blimp-shaped, which had also previously been mistaken for a UFO in the same region. That balloon had been launched by a pachinko parlor called CORE21 Minami-Miyazaki and was known for its bright, eye-catching lights at night.
Despite the visual similarity between the two objects, @_oheru points out that the speed of movement reported during the school sighting is noteworthy — and would clearly cast doubt on the idea that what was seen at the time was simply a balloon.
In the end, his question remains: was the light seen in the mass sighting in Miyazaki truly similar to the one captured in the video he shared?

But What Could This Object Be?
Well, I don’t believe it is yet possible to determine with precision what we are seeing in the footage. However, in my view, it could indeed be a brightly illuminated balloon or some kind of small-scale blimp. What’s curious is that we only see a strong light, but no visible structure that would clearly indicate a blimp.
If it is a balloon, its shape seems somewhat irregular. However, we can observe what appear to be LED lines or light strips decorating it.
But this is just a visual suggestion I have. If it is indeed a UFO/UAP, nothing would prevent it from manifesting in various forms, right?
Another curious aspect is that the object doesn’t seem to move with the wind, as you would expect from a balloon. It appears to be hovering, somewhat static above the house. Could it be tethered by a thin nylon line? Well, there’s still not much we can conclude. I have contacted the author of the post for more information and am waiting for a response.
