Amid the vast green expanse of the Amazon rainforest, a video recorded in 2011 continues to intrigue UFO enthusiasts and curious observers alike.
Captured by two British tourists during a visit to an isolated indigenous tribe, the footage appears to show something out of the ordinary: a small figure with features similar to the classic descriptions of an “alien gray,” positioned near what some interpret as a possible portal.
Since it first came to light, the material has sparked heated debate, dividing opinions between skepticism and the possibility of a genuine encounter.
At the time, the news was first published by the British newspaper The Sun, but it eventually faded into obscurity. On October 21, 2011, The Sun ran the online headline: “Alien filmed in Brazil rainforest.”
The video was obtained by well-known paranormal writer and researcher Michael Cohen and was reportedly filmed by two British tourists visiting the Manaus region, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
The footage shows the tourists filming members of an indigenous tribe, mostly children, possibly interacting with some adults with the help of a local interpreter. In the background, a bluish point of light can be seen — something that, at the time, some speculated could be a possible portal.

In front of this alleged glow, a short figure — about 1.3 meters tall — can be seen, apparently standing casually and observing the area. Its features closely resemble those of a typical “alien gray,” a being widely described in UFO literature.
A curious fact to note is that at a certain moment, the indigenous people being filmed look back, as if sensing something, and end up gazing directly in the direction of the supposed event; however, they appear not to notice either the light or the being.
While many might dismiss the video as a well-crafted hoax, at the time Mr. Cohen — who ran the popular paranormal website allnewsweb.com — stated that the recording represented significant evidence of alien presence in the region.
“It comes from an area known for intense UFO activity. It’s quite evident that aliens are interested in this region due to its biological diversity,” he said.
He also recalled that the area had been the focus of Operation Prato, an official Brazilian government investigation in the 1970s, conducted by the Army to monitor and confirm reports of alien presence. According to Cohen, the government denied the operation’s existence for years before finally admitting it and releasing large amounts of related files.
After obtaining the footage, Cohen — already well known in UFO and paranormal circles — claimed he was approached by Hollywood producers interested in using the material.
“This footage will be used in direct collaboration with an American film and will serve to highlight its authenticity,” he said at the time. “This is highly convincing footage that will be difficult to debunk.”
But Is This Footage Real?
Well, at first glance — visually speaking — there’s no way to say for certain whether it is a genuine capture of a non-human entity or simply a hoax. As mentioned earlier, the case of this video seems to have been doomed to obscurity.
The Sun’s report stated only that the video had been sent by writer Michael Cohen, who in turn claimed it was given to him by two British tourists — whose identities have never been revealed. In fact, not even the newspaper itself knew who the authors of the footage were. At the time, The Sun even provided a phone number and an email address for anyone with new information about the recording to get in touch, but, as far as is known, this yielded no concrete results.
In the same year, a Brazilian debunking channel called E-farsas published its investigation of the video and reported that:
“While searching for the ET in the Amazon rainforest video on Michael Cohen’s channel, we discovered that the video had been removed for ‘violating the copyrights of Barcroft Media.’ This company, for those who don’t know, is a producer of videos for commercials, TV, and cinema.”
However, this claim was not accompanied by a screenshot, and today it is no longer possible to access the original footage posted by Cohen on YouTube.
More than a decade after its release, the footage known as “Alien Brazil Rainforest” remains shrouded in mystery. The lack of information about the authors, the absence of additional evidence, and the subsequent silence on the case all contribute to a scenario in which certainty is scarce.
Could this be an authentic recording of an encounter with a non-human entity, or just another example of creative visual manipulation? Until new evidence emerges, the answer remains open — and the enigma, alive.
