What is happening around the world? Why have so many sightings and reports of flying spheres been appearing in our skies? Even the AARO, the Pentagon office responsible for the official study of UFOs/UAPs, notes that the majority of reported sightings involve orbs/spheres, accounting for more than 40% of all cataloged cases.
And this is not surprising. In recent years — especially in 2025 — the UFO community has been experiencing the so-called “wave” of flying spheres. This is not entirely new in the UFO universe, but it seems that, recently, objects of this shape have become more frequent and intense.
In the United States, data from a recently released Enigma Labs report show more than 8,000 orb sightings of various types over the past two and a half years across American territory.
Of the 8,000 orb sightings, more than 500 referenced metallic orbs. Of these, 422 were specifically described as “metallic,” “metal,” or “silver.” Approximately 70% of all reports met the institution’s quality standards for publication.
Although California and Texas recorded the highest volumes, sightings were reported across the country, often near military bases, critical infrastructure, and naval vessels.
Several reports come from aviation professionals and military veterans, describing bright, metallic or silver spherical objects that appear to rotate or move in formation, hover for extended periods, and maneuver precisely near restricted airspace and defense installations.
Documented examples:
August 23, 2023 • Salem, OR • Enigma #279456
“When I looked up in the sky I saw a metallic craft that I thought was a plane at first. To my right was a white airplane that did not look the same as this metallic object. As soon as I looked back at it, the object shot straight up and was gone. This lasted less than 30 seconds.”
August 11, 2023 • Redwood City, CA • Enigma #280526
“Round ball, silver, slightly but mostly translucent, approximately 2.4 to 3 meters wide.”
May 7, 2024 • South River, NJ • Enigma #292689
“Metallic orb above the tree line, moved south for 30 seconds, north for 30 seconds, and then disappeared to the east.”
Within the 422 sightings that specifically described metallic orbs, a clear time pattern can be observed: most occur shortly after midnight, between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Reports That Could Raise Concerns
Recent investigations by Enigma have drawn attention to a pattern of UFO sightings occurring dangerously close to sensitive U.S. military sites. Metallic orbs, in particular, have been reported hundreds of times near strategic installations, raising questions about their origin and purpose.
At the Papago Military Reservation, witnesses described several unusual aerial phenomena over the past few years. These included a shiny, oval metallic object hovering over the desert, bright objects moving unpredictably, and clusters of dull metallic orbs lingering silently in the sky. Such reports suggest a recurring presence of unidentified aerial objects in areas generally restricted to the public.
Similarly, the Los Angeles Air Force Base has experienced enigmatic activity. Observers documented a bright, spinning sphere performing rapid and erratic movements, challenging conventional explanations and drawing attention from local personnel and aviation authorities alike.
Fort Hamilton has emerged as another hotspot. Witnesses reported everything from silver spinning orbs moving against the wind to liquid-like metallic objects hovering in formation. Slowly moving balloon-shaped metallic forms have also been observed, indicating a wide range of unexplained aerial behaviors.

But What Do They Want in the World?
In recent years, the U.S. Department of Defense has documented several metallic spheres as part of the AARO investigations. Among the most notable cases are the orb observed by an MQ-9 drone on July 12, 2022, in the Middle East, and the “Mosul Orb”, captured by a U.S. MC-12 aircraft over Mosul, Iraq, during a combat operation. These objects, often without visible propulsion, transponders, or audible sound, deepen the mystery surrounding these phenomena and their recurring presence in sensitive areas.
According to Enigma, one of the most discussed hypotheses about metallic orbs is that they act as surveillance devices, possibly deployed by non-human intelligences to collect information without direct contact. These autonomous probes could belong to advanced civilizations, either of interstellar or even interdimensional origin.
Another theory suggests that these objects are linked to secret government programs, operated by the U.S. or foreign powers such as China or Russia. Their small size, agile movements, and ability to evade radar are reminiscent of advanced drone technology.
Some skeptics, however, believe that metallic orbs could be misidentified natural phenomena, such as weather balloons, optical illusions, or rare atmospheric events like ball lightning. Others argue that certain observations may be psychological projections, created by the human mind under stress or altered states of perception.
Regardless of the competing theories and official explanations, the true origin and purpose of these spheres remain a mystery.
