The NUFORC – National UFO Reporting Center – was founded in 1974 by renowned UFO investigator Robert J. Gribble. Over the past five decades, the Center’s main function has been to receive, record, and, as much as possible, corroborate and document reports from individuals who have witnessed unusual events, possibly related to UFOs. Throughout its history, the Center has processed over 180,000 reports and distributed its information to thousands of people.
The primary way the Center receives sighting reports is through its website, which has been continuously operating since 1995. Before that, the telephone hotline and U.S. mail were the main ways to submit reports.
The Center’s independence from all other UFO-related organizations, combined with its long-standing policy of guaranteed anonymity for reporters, has made it perhaps the most popular and widely accepted UFO reporting service in the world.
The website and hotline are well known to public safety agencies, FAA ARTCCs and flight service stations, National Weather Service offices, military facilities, NASA, and many 911 dispatch centers throughout the United States and parts of Canada. These entities routinely forward calls about possible UFO sightings to the Center.
One of the Center’s policies that sets it apart from most other UFO organizations is making all its data publicly available in summary form. Detailed information is provided only to experienced UFO investigators and researchers.
From time to time, interesting sightings are reported to the organization. The two cases you will see below seem to fit the profile of those that deserve media coverage.
NUFORC UFO Sighting 192157
On the evening of August 30, 2025, in Clinton, Utah, three witnesses reported an impressive UFO sighting. Around 10:30 PM local time, they noticed a white and blue spherical object in the sky, approximately 10 feet wide. Shortly after, two more spheres joined, forming a triangular pattern.
The objects displayed unusual behavior, including changes in color, rotation, and the emission of smaller lights. Their speed varied dramatically, from hovering almost motionless to moving at lightning-fast velocities. The initial observer then called his wife and daughter, who also witnessed the phenomenon, adding credibility to the report.
The sighting lasted approximately 30 minutes, with the objects observed at an angle of about 45 degrees in the southwest sky, roughly a mile away. Witnesses noted an aura or haze surrounding the spheres, making this encounter both visually striking and deeply perplexing.
NUFORC UFO Sighting 191817
The second report appears even more significant, as the witness’s records suggest what seems to be a boomerang-shaped (V) craft with multiple lights hovering statically in the sky. The sighting occurred on August 28, 2025, around 11:38 PM, in Los Angeles, California.
It was witnessed by two people. The observer reported that they were sitting on their balcony looking south when they noticed a light larger than the usual stars.
Using the phone’s zoom to get a closer look and capturing photos and videos, the witness clearly identified the V-shaped craft with nine circular white lights. The object remained in the same area for about 25 to 30 minutes, moving only slightly but not traveling significantly.
After this period, the craft moved south until it was no longer visible. The observed characteristics, such as the boomerang shape and the evenly spaced lights, make this sighting visually striking and noteworthy among recent NUFORC reports.
Regarding this footage, NUFORC asked whether the object could have been an ultralight aircraft. This is a valid question; however, the observed behavior appears more coordinated than what would be expected from such an aircraft. For example, the object remained seemingly stationary in the air for extended periods.
The witness also described movements inconsistent with an ultralight: “It stayed in the same area for about 25 to 30 minutes the first time I saw it. It moved a little, but didn’t go very far. In the end, it simply flew south until I could no longer see it.” This behavior suggests a type of maneuvering and control beyond what is typical for known light aircraft.

Reports like these highlight the importance of NUFORC in documenting and analyzing UFO sightings. By receiving and recording detailed accounts from around the world, the Center creates a valuable database that helps identify patterns, unusual behaviors, and objects that challenge conventional explanations.
Although most sightings can often be interpreted in various ways or explained by known phenomena, each report is still worth analyzing, as it provides essential information for understanding the phenomenon. Occasionally, truly extraordinary cases may emerge from these records, offering new opportunities for study and expanding our knowledge of what occurs in the skies.
