In February, the general mysteriously disappeared in New Mexico, sparking a wave of speculation and questions about what may have really happened. Known for his high-level security clearance and his involvement in extremely classified U.S. Air Force projects, Neil McCasland was seen by many researchers as a figure connected to advanced technologies and UFO reverse engineering programs.
His name gained even more attention after different allegations indicated that he possessed privileged knowledge about confidential U.S. government initiatives related to the UFO phenomenon. The case quickly attracted attention within the ufology community and among independent investigators, fueling debates surrounding the circumstances of the case.
Now, new information has been revealed regarding his final activities before he mysteriously vanished.
Recently released body camera footage revealed new information about the final known hours of General William Neil McCasland before he vanished without a trace on February 27 in New Mexico.
The videos, obtained by the Law&Crime Network, show police officers speaking with a woman who claimed she had met with McCasland the night before his disappearance. According to her, the general attended a dinner at a restaurant in Albuquerque around 6 PM, alongside members of the United States Space Force.
During the recorded statement, the witness said she knew McCasland professionally and had previously worked with him. She also stated that the general still maintained ties with the Kirtland Partnership, an organization focused on supporting and expanding Kirtland Air Force Base, a major U.S. military installation associated with advanced research and nuclear-related laboratories.

Before these new details emerged, Neil McCasland’s wife, Susan Wilkerson, had publicly stated that the retired general only held “very ordinary security clearances” since leaving the United States Air Force around 13 years ago. However, the account given by the new witness painted a completely different picture regarding McCasland’s level of involvement with confidential government projects.
According to the witness, the 68-year-old former general remained an important figure within highly restricted circles connected to the U.S. government. During the statement, she described McCasland as someone who still carried major influence and prestige, highlighting his past role as head of the Air Force Research Laboratory.
“He was the head of the Air Force Research Laboratory. The man’s name is in the UFO documents that are about to be released,” the witness stated. “He’s involved at that level, so he holds a very high level of security clearance.”

The woman who met with McCasland the night before his disappearance also stated that the retired general was behaving unusually during the meeting with members of the United States Space Force. According to her, something seemed off, as McCasland was not acting like himself that evening.
“I was shocked when I saw the alert this morning because on Thursday night he didn’t seem like himself,” the witness said. “He was distracted, quiet, and distant. You can tell when something isn’t normal.”
The recently released body camera footage also captured conversations between officers from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department and Susan Wilkerson, McCasland’s wife. In the recordings, she appeared surprised and deeply concerned about her husband’s sudden disappearance.
During her statement to police, Wilkerson explained that the general had started taking a new medication just hours before vanishing. The prescription had reportedly been intended to help with sleep issues, anxiety, and weight loss.
According to her, McCasland had been experiencing troubling physical and mental changes in recent months. The retired general had reportedly lost around 20 pounds without any clear explanation and frequently complained about fatigue, lack of motivation, and mental confusion.
“This morning he woke up saying he had finally slept better, but he also said he felt hungover, dizzy, and unable to find motivation to do anything,” Wilkerson said in the footage obtained by Law&Crime Sidebar with Jesse Weber.
Reports indicate that McCasland had been under medical supervision due to worsening physical and cognitive problems. Before police arrived at the residence, Susan also told 911 dispatchers that the retired military officer feared his brain was “deteriorating.”
Neil McCasland was last seen leaving his home without his cellphone, wearable devices, or any form of identification. According to his wife, everything suggested that he left intending not to be found.

Police officers also questioned Susan Wilkerson about Neil McCasland’s access to firearms inside the residence. During the body camera footage, officers asked whether there were weapons stored in the house and if any of them appeared to be missing.
Susan explained that the couple owned several rifles and pistols kept on a rack and inside a gun safe. When officers asked if any firearm had disappeared, she said she checked the safe shortly after realizing her husband was gone.
“We have several rifles and pistols stored there,” she said. “The first thing I noticed was that I needed the key to open the gun safe, but it was unlocked even though it was closed.”
According to Susan, she briefly looked inside the safe but could not immediately tell whether anything was missing.
“There wasn’t anything obvious that stood out as missing because I normally don’t keep track of that,” she explained. “But he used to say he had working firearms in there.”

According to information released during the investigation, Neil McCasland reportedly changed clothes before leaving his home and took only a pair of boots and a .38 caliber revolver with him. He is believed to have disappeared around 11 AM that morning, and there has been no confirmed trace of his whereabouts ever since.
McCasland’s military background has also drawn renewed attention following the case’s growing publicity. Throughout his career, the general held several highly strategic positions, including command of Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico and later leadership of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson in Ohio.
For decades, both facilities have been linked within the ufology community to confidential research involving advanced aerospace technology and unexplained phenomena. Officially, however, the U.S. government states that the sites are focused on experimental defense projects, military intelligence, and national security operations.
Following the creation of the United States Space Force in 2019, the military presence at both locations reportedly became even more significant. Kirtland became home to divisions connected to the Space Systems Command and the Rapid Capabilities Office, while Wright-Patterson began hosting major space intelligence operations.
Wright-Patterson in particular has long been surrounded by UFO-related rumors. Researchers such as Hal Puthoff and Eric Davis have previously claimed that debris recovered from the 1947 Roswell incident was transported to the Ohio base for examination and classified analysis.
McCasland’s disappearance also sparked comments from American political figures involved in discussions surrounding UFOs. In March, Tennessee congressman Tim Burchett stated during an interview with WABC radio that the general possessed deep knowledge of highly secretive programs connected to the phenomenon.
“He was the guy who held many nuclear secrets,” Burchett said. “Multiple sources told me he was the person in charge of matters related to UFOs.”
