Filmed after nightfall, a video allegedly recorded in a mountainous region of the state of Himachal Pradesh, in northern India, shows what appears to be a hooded figure wrapped in a cloak emerging from the darkness.
Posted on the social network X by the user iNikhilsaini, the footage has already accumulated hundreds of thousands of views and sparked intense online discussion.
“This video is circulating on social media in Himachal, showing an alleged ghost sighting in the Mandi area,” the user wrote. “One thing is certain: there are many places where people have seen or felt strange presences. It is probably not real, but have you ever felt any paranormal activity?”
In the video, the figure — which appears to have glowing eyes — can be seen moving slowly in the darkness, while a series of sharp, unsettling screams can be heard in the background.
As with many videos of this kind, it is difficult to determine the exact circumstances of the recording, and the possibility that it is a hoax cannot be ruled out.
Even so, the footage is undeniably frightening, especially because of the strange sounds. The glow in the creature’s eyes may be explained by the reflection of the camera’s flash or another light source, but the piercing audio contributes to the unsettling atmosphere.
As soon as the video began circulating online, users started calling it a possible “ghost sighting.”
Internet reactions
“Lack of oxygen to the brain causes these incidents, but in the mountains everyone has a story to tell,” said one user.
“My wife had a personal experience at the HPTDC lodge in Hatu about 10 years ago. We were driving to Reckong and stayed alone at the HPTDC lodge to visit a remote location. I was exhausted and fell asleep as soon as I lay down on the sofa. But she woke me up after hearing women crying and even singing; she was very disturbed all night,” added another.
“She is called ‘Raantas’ in Kashmiri. It is often mentioned in our folklore. The presence of demigods in the Himalayas is reality, not myth,” another person added. “Videos like this spread quickly because they touch on something very human,” commented someone else.
Others leaned toward skepticism and humor: “My question is simple: why do ghosts only have to be human? Why can’t it be a mosquito or a housefly?” joked one person. “Does it look like a bear? Eyes reflect any light source (coming from the side of the camera),” added another.
So far, there is no official confirmation regarding the authenticity of the video, which continues to divide opinions between belief, folklore, and rational explanations.
