The military officer and former oceanographer argues that the famous island is not merely a myth, but a subject of scientific interest, supported by Plato’s accounts and the analysis of geological data. During a recent interview with The Free Press, when directly asked whether Atlantis truly existed, the veteran answered affirmatively.
According to data compiled by his team, the civilization may have perished in a massive cataclysm around 12,900 years ago, coinciding with the Younger Dryas period, exactly as authors like Graham Hancock have suggested.
“We believe there is compelling evidence that it existed and that it somehow met its end due to a catastrophic geological event around the Younger Dryas period,” Gallaudet explained, referring to research into the possible location of the mythical city beneath the ocean.
Admiral Tim Gallaudet: "Atlantis was REAL"

To find concrete answers, the admiral’s team plans to use cutting-edge technology on the ocean floor. The goal is to deploy a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to specific locations in search of possible man-made structures that could help explain the disappearance of this civilization.
“If we lower a remotely operated underwater vehicle equipped with a camera, we may be able to identify man-made structures as evidence,” Gallaudet said.
His statement paves the way for a rigorous scientific exploration aimed at uncovering the mysteries hidden in the depths of the ocean.
This type of underwater archaeology could also reveal something far less ancient. According to testimonies collected by the retired rear admiral himself, strange objects with transmedium capabilities have been recorded in the oceans, meaning vehicles capable of moving between air and water without leaving trails or generating visible impact.
“If unidentified anomalous phenomena are operated by a non-human intelligence that wishes to remain hidden, the ocean is the perfect place to hide,” he concluded, noting that more than 90% of the ocean’s volume remains visually unexplored.
The statements have reignited debates surrounding both the possible existence of Atlantis and the mystery of unidentified objects reportedly operating beneath Earth’s oceans.
