In the vast frozen landscape of Antarctica, a strange circular formation has once again stirred curiosity among internet users. Through Google Earth, observers reported spotting an unusual object, partially hidden beneath a cliff about 145 kilometers from the coast.
The structure — resembling anything from a giant frying pan to a possible alien spacecraft — has become the subject of online debate. Some speculate it could be a geological oddity, a man-made construct, or even evidence of something not from this world.
Often described as a “buried UFO,” the circular entity appears to be lodged beneath the rock. According to American ufologist Scott C. Waring — who runs the website UFO Sightings Daily — the idea that the object was deliberately concealed cannot be ruled out.
“This disc is still there! Is it simply impossible to retrieve, or is it still in use?” Waring asked in a video posted on YouTube, comparing the structure to a giant Oreo cookie stuck in the ice.

The structure is located about 72 kilometers from Mill Island — an ice-covered, dome-shaped island measuring 48 kilometers in length and 29 kilometers in width, near the Antarctic coast. It also lies roughly 10 kilometers from the AB Dobrowolski Polar Station, a Polish research base that is only occasionally active.
Curiously, the object appears to have a silvery outline around its edge, resembling the traditional depictions of UFOs in popular culture. Aside from that detail, however, the formation displays a uniform, solid black color, standing in stark contrast to the jagged rocks and surrounding snow.
Although the imagery is highly pixelated, it also seems to reveal peculiar black lines extending between the disc-like shape and the adjacent rock.
Philip Mantle, a British UFO researcher, described the anomaly as “new to me,” adding that he had “never seen it before,” though he refrained from speculating on what it might actually be.
On Google Maps, the unusual structure can be located by simply entering the following coordinates into the search bar: 66°16’24.5″S 100°59’03.5″E.

In a post on the UFO Sightings Daily website last Wednesday, Scott Waring stated that this UFO was discovered about two years ago, although some people had actually spotted it years earlier.
On Reddit, for instance, a thread posted four years ago featured a screenshot of the site with the caption: “Any thoughts on the supposed UFO crash site in Antarctica?”
The post sparked several creative suggestions from users, who described the object as a “weather balloon,” a “Nazi base,” and even a “meltwater lake.”
As previously mentioned, the case is not new, and some argue that it is nothing out of the ordinary — for example, just a lake. This is exactly the explanation given by UFO pseudoscetic Mick West, who in a 2022 post on X claimed that the structure was nothing more than a simple body of water.

West also included a link in his post, directing viewers to the History YouTube channel for the episode UFO SIGHTING IN ANTARCTICA | The Proof is Out There (Season 2), in which he supports the hypothesis that the object is actually “water”.
However, while this explanation cannot be entirely ruled out, it is unlikely to be widely accepted. In the video itself, viewers questioned the hypothesis at the time, with comments such as:
“I’ve never seen a lake that casts a shadow on the outside, Mick…”
It is worth remembering that this is not the first time Google Earth users have spotted intriguing patterns in Antarctica, ranging from pareidolia and natural formations to possible structures or even more anomalous phenomena. The Antarctic region remains inhospitable and largely unexplored, which fuels speculation and fascination about what might still be hidden beneath the ice.
The extreme isolation, combined with harsh climatic conditions and limited accessibility, makes Antarctica a perfect setting for mysteries to remain untouched for long periods. Each new virtual discovery sparks debates about the true nature of these objects, challenging both scientists and UFO enthusiasts to distinguish what is natural from what could be artificial — or perhaps something entirely unexpected.
As satellite technology and high-resolution imagery continue to improve, more details from these remote regions begin to emerge. Yet, until direct field investigations are conducted, many of these structures will remain shrouded in mystery, reminding us that even in the 21st century, Earth still holds secrets capable of intriguing and captivating the imagination.
